Let them eat cake!

Todd's parents are graciously throwing us a second wedding reception, to be held at a country club on a lake in New Jersey.  It will take place over Labor Day weekend, once we've had a couple of weeks to unwind after the honeymoon.  I'm looking forward to celebrating our marriage with many friends and family who won't be able to make it to our wedding.  But the best part of this second reception is that, while most engaged couples have to make one decision about each aspect of the wedding, and stick with it, Todd and I have the good fortune of being able to choose multiple favorites.  Case in point: we get to select one cake for our wedding, and another for our second reception.

The beauty below was the runner-up for our wedding cake.  I love it's creamy yellow color, precise beading at the bottom of each layer, and the graceful garlands of faux boxwood that take it out of the realm of boring.  While I also love the wreath cake topper, Todd and I are both looking forward to the opportunity of using our vintage Mickey and Minnie cake topper again after the wedding, so we've decided to forgo the wreath.

I found this cake on Martha Stewart Weddings.  What do you think?
